We're called TV Beds Northwest so, as you would imagine, we sell TV beds as you would expect. But that's not all we offer, when people upgrade their bed they will often purchase a new mattress too. So we thought we'd share our insights into what kind of mattress is right for you. So if you are a side sleeper, sleep hot or your sleep partner takes up more room than you in the bed, this article should help you on your mattress-buying journey.
There are many different mattresses on the market today; buying one can be a minefield. But let's break them down broadly into three categories soft, medium and firm. So which one is right for you?
Soft mattresses: If you are a side sleeper, or have joint problems, then a soft mattress may be the right choice for you. It contours to your body and provides cushioning over pressure points. The downside is that they won't provide enough support if you are a front or back sleeper.
Medium mattresses: These offer the best of both worlds. They provide the right balance of comfort and support for all types of sleepers. Plus, they are a good choice if you share your bed with someone who prefers different levels of firmness.
Firm mattresses: Firm mattresses provide better support than soft mattresses, and are more durable over time. They can also help reduce motion transfer and are a better choice for those of you who sleep on your back or stomach. The downside is that they don't hug your body like soft mattresses, so if you have joint pain or prefer to sleep on your side then this may not be the best choice for you.
Memory foam: If you're after a mattress with extra cushioning and support, then memory foam should be high on your list of considerations. It is a great choice for those with joint pain as it contours to your body and relieves pressure. Plus, it offers good motion isolation for couples who share the bed.
