As with our Audio page, we have tried to cover all the areas where technology is relevant in TV Beds, what's new, how it works and again cover anything that you could possibly need when shopping for your next TV Bed. Now we are not engineers and do not intend to sound like one - we are however TV Bed specialists, we create and sell our own models which means we know exactly what we are talking about. 

To make things simple below, you will find blogs, a jargon chart for all that confusing terminology, FAQ's (no question is too simple or silly), plus anything else we can think of that will help navigate the journey of sound technology in our homes. 

TV Bed Technology Explained

Modern TV beds offer much more than simply hiding a television. Features such as motorised TV lifts, Bluetooth connectivity, USB charging, voice control and adjustable bases can vary between models. The table below explains some of the most common TV bed features, what they do and why they may matter when choosing your bed.

Technology What It Does Why It Matters
Electric TV Lift Raises and lowers the television at the touch of a button. Keeps the TV hidden when it is not being used and protects the screen inside the foot end.
Remote-Controlled Lift Operates the TV lift using a handheld remote control. Allows you to raise or lower the television without leaving the bed.
Manual TV Lift Controls Provides physical buttons for operating the TV lift. Offers another way to operate the lift if the remote is unavailable.
TV Compatibility Shows the maximum television size supported by the TV lift. Helps ensure the television fits correctly and operates safely within the foot end.
Integrated Speakers Speakers are built directly into the TV bed. Provides an all-in-one entertainment system without separate speakers around the bedroom.
Integrated Soundbar Combines several speakers within one unit. Can improve dialogue and provide fuller sound than standard television speakers.
Bluetooth Connectivity Wirelessly connects compatible phones, tablets and other devices. Allows you to play music, podcasts and other audio through the bed’s speakers.
HDMI Connectivity Connects devices such as streaming players and games consoles. Makes it easier to connect different entertainment devices to the television.
HDMI eARC Transfers high-quality audio through a compatible HDMI connection. Allows compatible televisions and sound systems to communicate through fewer cables.
USB-A Charging Charges compatible devices using a standard USB connection. Keeps phones, tablets and other devices charged beside the bed.
USB-C Charging Provides a modern charging connection for compatible devices. Supports many newer smartphones, tablets and accessories.
Voice Activation Allows selected TV bed functions to respond to voice commands. Provides hands-free control on compatible models.
Ambient LED Lighting Adds built-in decorative lighting around selected areas of the bed. Creates atmosphere and provides subtle lighting during the evening.
Electric Ottoman Storage Raises and lowers the mattress base using a powered lifting mechanism. Provides easier access to under-bed storage without manually lifting the mattress and bed base.
Adjustable Bed Technology Electronically raises and lowers the head and foot sections. Allows you to change your position for resting, reading, watching television or sleeping.
Massage Function Uses vibration motors built into a compatible adjustable base. Provides an additional relaxation feature while resting in bed.
Plug & Play Technology Combines compatible entertainment technology into one ready-to-connect system. Reduces the need for separate speakers, amplifiers and complicated installation.
